I have taken this contents page from the 'We Love Pop' magazine. There is a 'contents box' which shows what is inside the magazine and on what page. I like this design because it is minimalistic but still gives enough information to the reader. It stands out on the page because it is in black and all the other font is in blue.
There are 3 main cover stories are also featured inside the magazine down the right hand side of the page. The pictures are effective because that artist might have been featured on the front so the readers can point out the ones they like and read the cover line about them. The main 'quote' or 'title' of the story for each star is written in blue which makes it separate from the other stories on the page. It also has the page number of which the story is on which is an important aspect of a contents page.
On the left hand side of the page there is a letter from the editor to all the readers. This features more detail on the main story of the magazine (in this case Olly Murs). It is also a Christmas edition so it has a Merry Christmas message as well. I think a letter from the editor is important on a contents page because it makes the magazine more personal to the reader and it gives a little extra information about the issue.
On the very bottom of the page there is a banner which features the posters which are in the issue. I think this is important because it is a form of advertisement. This could be the selling point to some readers as their favourite star may be featured in that section. There is a small advisement next to the 'contents box' which advertises a calender that comes free with the magazine. This is also important to a contents page as that may not be advertised on the front cover of the magazine.
Overall I think that the contents page is one of the most important pages of the magazine as it tells the audience what is inside the magazine and on what page. I also gives the editor space to advertise and give more information about the stories featured inside.
